A Simple Vinaigrette & the Prettiest Little Kitchen Tool

A Simple Vinaigrette & the Prettiest Little Kitchen Tool

There’s something about a handmade kitchen piece that invites you to slow down. To press pause, even if just for a moment, and savor the ritual of preparing something nourishing.

Lately, I’ve been reaching for our beautiful ceramic grater plates—each one a tiny work of art. They sit quietly on the counter, blending form and function in the most effortless way. And while they’re perfect for grating ginger, cucumber, cheese or even fresh nutmeg, I’ve fallen in love with how easily they turn a clove of garlic into a silky paste for the most delicious vinaigrette.
This vinaigrette has quickly become a go-to in our home. Bright with lemon, mellowed by garlic, and kissed with Dijon—it’s the kind of dressing that makes even the simplest greens feel special. I make it often, especially this time of year when crisp lettuce and shaved Parmesan are all I need for a light lunch or an easy side at dinner.

Lemon Garlic Vinaigrette
(makes enough for 2–4 servings)

Ingredients:

1 garlic clove, grated on our ceramic grater plate

A splash of your best red wine vinegar

Juice of 1 lemon

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp honey (this is optional or you can add less)

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

Sea salt and cracked pepper to taste

To Make:
In a small bowl, use the ceramic grater plate to grate your garlic until soft and creamy. Add lemon juice and a splash of red wine vinegar. The next step is essential-let it sit just like that for a few minutes to macerate. Next add Dijon and honey. Whisk in the olive oil slowly until everything comes together (I like using a silicone kitchen brush for this). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Pour generously over your favorite greens and top with shaved Parmesan. Simple, elevated, and truly addictive.
